| Sentry Investments was founded in 1997 and is one of Canada's fastest-growing independent asset management companies. We manage over $13 billion in assets on behalf of more than 400,000 Canadian investors, and offer a diverse range of award-winning investment products available through financial advisors, including domestic and global mutual funds, and separately managed accounts. Sentry is one of only three firms to receive five consecutive Brendan Wood Canadian International TopGun Asset Management Team Awards (2009 to 2013).
We are a family-owned, family-run business – and as a result, fully independent – which means that we are always invested. We are invested in the long-term interests of our clients, as opposed to the sometimes short-term interests of shareholders. And we are personally invested in all aspects of the business, and the mutual success of our clients and our company.
When we opened our doors in 1997, Sentry was a small mutual fund company with some very big ideas. We focused on delivering superior risk-adjusted returns, which more tangibly translates into income and growth with less volatility. We also believed that to achieve superior results, we needed to do things differently. Over the next 10 years, we attracted a relatively small but loyal group of supporters. Then came the 2008/09 financial crisis.
Many firms were significantly affected by that crisis. But for us, it was the defining moment in our company’s history. Our performance during, and since, the 2008/09 financial crisis showed that our style of investing works. Sentry funds are built to perform through volatile markets; those are the times that truly define you as an investment manager. As a result, Canadian investors – through the counsel of their financial advisors – have entrusted more and more of their hard-earned dollars to Sentry.
While the number of investors we serve has grown dramatically, we sincerely believe that our disciplined house style can help even more advisors help more investors achieve their financial goals.
Bridgehouse Asset Managers, a trade name of Brandes Investment Partners & Co., offers tried-and-true investment solutions to Canadians, leveraging the expertise of three world-class investment managers. In everything we do, we consider our clients. We are committed to partnering with investment professionals to help Canadians reach their financial goals and become smarter investors.
| What sets Vanguard apart—and lets Vanguard put investors first around the world—is the ownership structure of The Vanguard Group, Inc., in the United States. Rather than being publicly traded or owned by a small group of individuals, The Vanguard Group is owned by Vanguard's U.S.-domiciled funds and ETFs. Those funds, in turn, are owned by their investors. This unique mutual structure aligns our interests with those of our investors and drives the culture, philosophy and policies throughout the Vanguard organization worldwide.
In Canada, Vanguard leverages the scale, experience and resources of our established global business. Vanguard's ownership structure means that our clients don't have to worry that we'll be acquired. The company they invest with today will continue to serve them in the future.
Investors can’t control the markets, but they can control the costs of investing. Providing low-cost investments isn't a pricing strategy for us.
It's how we do business.
We can keep costs low because of our unique ownership structure in the United States, which allows us to return profits to investors through lower costs.
Vanguard’s scale also helps to keep costs low. As our assets under management increase globally, we can reduce expense ratios for the investors in our funds. Vanguard manages more than $2.0 trillion, including more than $240 billion in low-cost ETFs. Vanguard Investments Canada Inc. has eleven core ETFs on Toronto Stock Exchange.

Most IFSE students work full time in financial services organizations and have limited time to study during the business day. Our courses and study tools are designed to fit into busy schedules, and are available through a variety of delivery methods. For example, our extremely popular Mutual Fund and Life Insurance Licensing courses are available online. IFSE Institute’s Exempt Market Products Exam is a proficiency requirement for Exempt Market Dealers – Dealing Representatives and Chief Compliance Officers in NI 31-103. This paper-based course focuses on topics such as the capital markets, the exempt market, know your client and know your product rules, ethical conduct, and features of common exempt securities. The course has been developed to ensure that those individuals operating in this market have the knowledge necessary to offer advice to clients on these complex financial instruments. We encourage you to visit our booth for more information. Please do not forget to ask us about our new partnership with the Exempt Market Dealers Association of Canada (EMDA).|
